La parola ORGANICA denota nell'architettura non soltanto ciò che può essere appeso in una macelleria,che sta su due piedi o si coltiva in un campo. La parola organica si riferisce all'essenza integrale o intrinseca. Come originalmente usato nell'architettura, organico significa che la parte sta armonicamente al tutto come il tutto sta alla parte. Così l'essenza intesa come integrale deriva dal significato della parola organica. INTRINSECO. FLLW

L'Architettura Organica non è uno stile. Il disegno si sviluppa dai bisogni e
dalle condizioni del cliente e del luogo. È basato sul capire i bisogni degli
esseri umani che useranno l'architettura. Così è prima architettura per gli
esseri umani. Il primo passo nel progetto organico è capire il cliente ed il
luogo. Ciò presuppone che l'architetto abbia sviluppato una certa comprensione
di che cosa significa umano. L'altro modo di progettare comincia con uno stile
che forza i bisogni in esso in modo da guardare qualcosa che ad essi piace. O
fare uno schizzo capriccioso e poi provare a forzare i bisogni in esso.
Il modo organico è di progettare dall'interno all'esterno,
in armonia con le condizioni del proprio essere. Capire le condizioni
e lasciare che questa conoscenza direzioni lo sviluppo del progetto.
Perché questo è così difficile per la maggior parte dei progettisti ? Perché i
clienti non chiedono che il loro edificio sia progettato in questo modo organico
e non come la copia di uno stile. La maggior parte degli architetti non sanno
come progettare attraverso i bisogni della funzione e lasciare che la forma
venga fuori come risultato .
La
maggior parte della gente non sa come usare la parte creativa dei loro cervelli.
Essi si appoggiano nel trovare le progettazioni già esistenti e le rimodellano
per adattare i loro bisogni e le condizioni del sito. Il costo di questi
edifici è in realtà lo stesso di uno di Architettura Organica. Ma
raramente la copia si adatta ai bisogni e alle condizioni del sito. Così
essi si adattano ad un progetto che è applicato ai loro bisogni e condizioni.
In natura
ogni forma e colore ha la sua funzione e il suo scopo. Essi sono basati sui
bisogni delle cose naturali , del fiore e dell'animale. Il progetto di ognuno di
loro si è sviluppato e si è evoluto nel tempo così che ogni parte di questa cosa
naturale è là per uno scopo. Noi chiamiamo questo bellezza, perché non è così
nello stesso processo dei lavori di architettura ? La natura è un esempio
visibile . Ciò che è accaduto in architettura è che noi non siamo organici ed il
progetto che noi copiamo non si evolve in armonia con
le condizioni del proprio essere. Noi proviamo ad aggrapparci
al passato e fare ciò è la morte. Se noi conosciamo qualcosa della vita ci
rendiamo conto che dobbiamo cambiare ed evolverci con il cambiamento delle
condizioni, oppure noi non avremo successo, la stessa cosa è con l'architettura.
Come un
cliente chiede al proprio architetto che inizi con i propri bisogni e il sito
voi avete trovato uno che vuole essere organico. Come uno studente di
architettura voi dovreste chiedere ai vostri insegnanti di mostrarvi come
progettare in modo organico, in modo naturale, in modo umano, in modo
creativo. Imparare ad usare entrambi le parti del vostro cervello.

The word ORGANIC denotes in architecture not merely what may hang in a butcher shop, get about on two feet or be cultivated in a field. The word organic refers to entity, perhaps integral or intrinsic would therefore be a better word to use. As originally used in architecture, organic means part-to-whole-as-whole-is-to-part. So entity as integral is what is really meant by the word organic. INTRINSIC. FLLW

Organic
Architecture is not a style. The design develops from the needs and conditions
of the client and the site. It is based on understanding the needs of the human
beings that will use the architecture. So it is first architecture for humans.
So the first step in Organic design is to understand the client and the site.
This assumes the architect has developed some understanding of what it is to be
human.
The
other way to design is to start with a style and force the needs into it so it
has the look of something they like. Or make some whimsical sketch and then try
and force the needs into it.
The
organic way is to work from within
outward - in harmony with the conditions of its being.
Understand the conditions and let this understanding direct
the development of the design. Why is this so hard for most designers? Why
don't clients demand that their building be designed in this organic way and not
copies of a style. They just don't know any better. Most architects don't know
how to design from the needs and the function out and let the form come as the
result.
Most
people do not know how to use the creative side of their brains. They rely on
finding a ready made design and remodeling it to fit their needs and the
conditions of the site. The cost of these building is very much the same as
Organic Architecture. But the copy rarely fits the needs of the client and the
conditions of the site. So they settle for a design
that is applied
to their needs and conditions.
In nature
every form and color has a function and a purpose. They are based on the needs
of the natural thing, the flower or the animal. The design of each has
developed and evolved over time so that every part of the natural thing is there
for a purpose. We call this beauty, so why not the same process in the design
of a work of architecture? Nature is the example that is there for all to see.
What has happened in architecture is that we are not organic and the design we
copy does not evolve in
harmony with the conditions of its being.
We try and cling to the past and to do this is death. If we know anything
about life it is that we must change and evolve with changing conditions or we
do not succeed, so it is with architecture.
As a
client demand that your architect start with your needs and the site you have
selected or find one that will.
As a
student of architecture you should demand that your teachers show you how to
design the Organic way, natures way, the human way, the creative way. Learn to
use both sides of the brain that you have.
